GDPR will come into effect from May 2018, so the impending changes are fast approaching. A big part of the new GDPR regulation will dictate how companies can market to individual consumers – PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) – which state permission will be via opt-in, instead of the current opt-out of e-marketing that is the current law.
GDPR is there to protect consumers across the European Union, including the UK despite Brexit.

Under the EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation, businesses around the world must not only keep personal data private, but they will also be required to “forget” any personal data related to an individual on request – and the GDPR right to be forgotten will be a significant part of compliance with the new rule.
